Mobile home mortgages are chattel mortgages, which have higher interests rates than mortgages on bricks and mortar homes (most times 1-2% higher). You also have to be mindful of the lot fees and the restrictions that many communities will put on what you can do with your property. Analysis has shown in most cases, you can buy a regular house/townhouse/duplex for as much as $60K-$80K higher and still have a LOWER cost of ownership each month.
