Reverse Mortgage Equity Estimator
A rough, Ontario-focused estimate of the most home equity you could access through a reverse mortgage, based on your age and property details.
Your details
If the property is jointly owned, enter both ages — reverse mortgages are sized to the younger homeowner on title.
Your estimate
The most equity you might be able to access, weighing published maximums across Canada’s major reverse mortgage lenders for your age and location.
This is a rough estimate, not a quote. The figures come from a generalized curve built around lenders’ maximums, not from an appraisal, a credit check, or this specific property. No lender has reviewed these numbers, and none of them constitutes an approval, a rate, or a promised amount.
Actual eligibility and amounts depend on a formal application, a property appraisal, title, location, and a lender’s current underwriting. Under Ontario law, every reverse mortgage borrower must receive independent legal advice from a lawyer before closing.

How this estimate is calculated
- The qualifying age is the younger of the two homeowner ages entered, matching how lenders set loan-to-value for jointly owned properties.
- This estimate weighs the published maximums of Canada’s major reverse mortgage lenders together, roughly 55% of home value for most lenders and products, up to 59% for products that require the youngest owner to be 70 or older, and surfaces the highest one you’re likely to qualify for. None of them publishes an exact age-by-age table, so the amount shown interpolates between published industry estimates (roughly 18% at age 55, rising toward the applicable maximum by the mid-80s).
- Some lenders limit eligibility in rural or small-town areas. When a postal code looks rural, this estimate already accounts for that rather than showing a figure you likely couldn’t access.
